Ghana has launched the Cannabis Regulatory Programme, establishing a controlled framework for the cultivation and management of low-THC cannabis for medicinal and industrial purposes. The announcement came during a press briefing in Accra where Hon. Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior, declared the programme open for implementation. The implementation follows the passage of the Narcotics Control Commission (Amendment) Act, 2023 (Act 1100) and the Narcotics Control Commission (Cultivation and Management of Cannabis) Regulations, 2023 (L.I. 2475), which provide the legal foundation for regulated activities. Over GHS 1.4 Million worth of suspected cannabis found in impounded

Police in the Oti Region have uncovered suspected cannabis with an estimated street value of over GHS 1.4 million from an impounded cargo truck intercepted at the Bonakye checkpoint. The vehicle, a Volvo truck with registration number GC 3522-09, was stopped on December 29, 2025, while travelling towards Kpassa following intelligence that it was transporting illegal goods. According to police sources, the driver and another occupant fled the scene, abandoning the truck with the ignition key still in place. Bartender Jailed 13 Years for Cannabis Possession
