Ernest Norgbey to serve another term as Ashaiman MP  

Mr Ernest Henry Norgbey, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ashaiman, has secured the mandate to serve the constituency for a third term following his victory in the 2024 general election.   Out of 94,707 total votes cast, the incumbent MP garnered 65,083, representing 68.72 percent of the valid votes cast, surpassing his previous record.   His closest competitor, Mr Justice King Esseiel of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), polled 25,927.    Other contestants were Mr Heymann Emmanuel Kofi-Yesu of the Progressive People's Party, who managed 295 votes, and independent candidate Mr Kuda Gadafi Adam, 2,261.   In his victory speech, Mr Norgbey assured the constituents of developmental initiatives in the...

A total of 43,503 people in Oforikrom constituency fail to vote in the December 07 elections  

A whopping number of 43,503 registered voters in the Oforikrom constituency in the Ashanti region, failed to exercise their franchise during the December 07 general elections.   This represents 37.35 per cent of the 116,455 registered voters who were expected to vote in the elections.   On the elections day however, a total of 72,952 people came out to cast their ballot to elect their Member of Parliament and a President for Ghana.   Of this, 356 ballots were rejected by the Electoral Commission (EC), leaving 72,596 valid votes cast during the elections.   Mr Michael Kwasi Aidoo, a first-time applicant on the ticket of the NPP, was elected as the new Member of Parliament for the constituency.   He secured 47,709 of the valid votes...

Supporters of John Mahama have taken to the streets across the country to celebrate his victory Ghana's opposition candidate and former President John Mahama has promised "a new beginning, a new direction" for the country after being officially declared the winner of Saturday's presidential election. Ghana's Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia has accepted defeat in Saturday's election and congratulated the opposition candidate, former President John Mahama, on his victory. "The people have voted for change," said Bawumia. The vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, on Thursday donated $7,500 to cover the cost of the surgery of a three-year-old boy, Patnam Kantam, who is suffering from a hole in the heart.
