Parliamentary By-Election: Akwatia readies for keen contest on Tuesday
The Akwatia Constituency in the Eastern Region goes to the polls on Tuesday, September 2, in a hotly contested parliamentary by-election following the death of Mr Ernest Yaw Kumi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
About 52,000 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots at 119 polling stations in the constituency, which has gained national attention as a political swing seat.
The NPP is fielding Mr Solomon Kwame Asumadu, a 40-year-old small-scale miner and graduate of All Nations University, while the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is presenting Mr Bernard Bediako Baidoo, a 40-year-old lawyer and constituency secretary of the party.
