Shatta Wale Sues Blakk Rasta for Defamation

Management of Ghana’s celebrated dancehall artiste, Shatta Wale, born Charles Nii Armah Mensah, has confirmed that the musician has instructed his legal representatives to initiate a defamation lawsuit against broadcaster and fellow musician Blakk Rasta.

According to a statement issued by Life Shatta Movement Music Production (SM Recordz), the decision follows a series of public statements allegedly made by Blakk Rasta which management describes as false and injurious to the artiste’s personal and professional reputation.

The statement emphasized that Shatta Wale has consistently shown respect for freedom of expression and recognizes the important role the media plays in public discourse. However, management stressed that freedom of speech must be exercised with responsibility, accuracy, fairness, and professionalism, particularly when commentary touches on the character and integrity of individuals.

Management further noted that the decision to pursue legal action was not taken lightly, but has become necessary to safeguard the artiste’s reputation and to reinforce the need for responsible broadcasting and commentary within Ghana’s media landscape.

With the matter now before the courts, Shatta Wale and his team say they will refrain from engaging in media discussions on the issue and will allow the judicial process to take its course. They expressed confidence in Ghana’s legal system and believe the appropriate forum will address the concerns raised.

The statement concluded by assuring fans, business partners, and the general public that Shatta Wale remains focused on his music, ongoing projects, and positive contributions to the entertainment industry.
