The Inspector-General of Police (IGP) has deployed reinforcement teams and armoured vehicles to Nalerigu and surrounding communities in the North East Region following recent security disturbances in the area.
The deployment comes after some youth allegedly set two houses ablaze in the regional capital, Nalerigu, and issued threats to burn more houses and attack residents. The police intervention is aimed at restoring calm, protecting lives and property, and strengthening security in the affected communities.
According to the Police Service, the reinforcement teams will also ensure the effective enforcement of the curfew imposed on Nalerigu and its environs by the government. In addition, the teams will support the North East Regional Police Command to intensify security patrols along major highways to guarantee the safety of commuters and road users.

The Police Command has assured the general public, especially the people of Nalerigu, that investigations into the attacks and the burning of houses are ongoing. The Service has further emphasized that all individuals found to be involved in the acts of violence will be arrested and brought to justice.
The Ghana Police Service has called on residents to remain calm, cooperate with security agencies, and report any suspicious activities as efforts continue to restore peace and stability in the area.
