Gov’t Intensifies Crackdown on Cyber Fraud to Protect Ghana’s Image – Sam George

The Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation and Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has commended the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) for another successful operation against cyber fraud, describing it as a major step in safeguarding Ghana’s digital space and international reputation.

In a statement, the Minister congratulated the dedicated team at the Cyber Security Authority of Ghana, led by its Director-General, Divine Selase Agbeti, as well as the Authority’s Law Enforcement Unit, for what he described as a “surgical strike at the heart of cyber fraud.”

According to Sam George, the latest operation, carried out on Wednesday, was executed in close collaboration with sister security agencies, including the Criminal Investigations Department (CID), the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) and the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC). He noted that the joint effort underscores government’s firm commitment to tackling cyber-enabled crimes and enhancing Ghana’s standing on the global stage.

“The message is loud and clear,” the Minister stressed. “So long as you engage in cyber-based crime, whether against Ghanaians or any other person, we will come after you.”

He further reaffirmed government’s resolve to strengthen inter-agency cooperation, improve digital security infrastructure and ensure that Ghana does not become a safe haven for cyber criminals.

The operation forms part of broader national efforts to combat cybercrime, protect citizens and businesses, and promote trust in Ghana’s digital economy.
