Ghana Reaffirms Commitment to AfCFTA and Regional Health Resilience — Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang

Ghana’s Vice President, Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, has reiterated the country’s unwavering commitment to advancing regional integration and strengthening Africa’s health systems, particularly in the fight against AIDS.

Speaking at a high-level conference, the Vice President highlighted Ghana’s leadership role in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), describing it as a vital platform for shared learning, policy harmonisation, and collective action across the continent.

According to her, the next five years will be decisive for Africa as it works to eliminate the threat of AIDS. She stressed that while the continent has the capacity to end the epidemic, achieving this goal will require governments and institutions to prioritise long-term resilience instead of short-term, reactionary measures.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang concluded her remarks by wishing participants a fruitful and impactful conference. She expressed confidence that deliberations and recommendations from the event would contribute significantly to building a healthier, stronger, and more self-reliant Africa.

The conference brought together policymakers, health experts, and development partners to discuss strategies for regional cooperation, disease prevention, and sustainable development under the AfCFTA framework.
