His Royal Majesty, Ndan Ya-Na Abukari II, has extended warm congratulations to the University of Development Studies (UDS) football team and their technical staff following their remarkable performance at the ongoing 2025 World University Games in Dalian, China.
The UDS team has qualified for the semifinals of the prestigious competition, an achievement the Ya-Na described as a source of pride not only for Ghana but for the entire African continent.
In his statement, the Overlord of Dagbon lauded the team’s outstanding display of skill, determination, and unity on the world stage.
“The qualification to the semifinals represents not only a triumph for our institution but a moment of great honor for our continent. Your team has carried the hopes and aspirations of Africa with distinction, demonstrating the excellence, determination, and spirit that define our people,” the Ya-Na said.
He commended the players for their fearless performance, the technical team for their tactical guidance, and the university community for its unwavering support. According to him, the collective effort of management, staff, and students has laid the foundation for this historic success.
The Ya-Na emphasized that the achievement is a testament to the power of education, sport, and unity in inspiring young Africans to aim higher. He expressed confidence that UDS will continue to be a beacon of excellence, both academically and in sports.
Looking ahead to the finals against Brazil’s Paulista University, the Ya-Na offered prayers for the team’s victory:
“May Allah grant you the strength and perseverance to bring the trophy home. May Allah continue to bless you all,” he concluded.
