WESTERN REGIONAL POLICE LAUNCH MANHUNT FOR FOUR ARMED ROBBERY SUSPECTS IN TELEKU BOKAZO

The Western Regional Police Command has launched a manhunt for four suspected armed robbers following a violent robbery attack on a gold buying shop in Teleku Bokazo on Tuesday, July 30, 2025.

According to police sources, officers from the Esiama District responded swiftly to a distress call around 5:30 p.m. reporting an armed robbery in progress. The robbers, believed to be six in number, were wielding AK-47 rifles and machetes when they stormed the gold shop.

Upon arrival, the police learned the suspects had fled toward the Salman community. A pursuit ensued, leading to an exchange of gunfire between the robbers and police. One of the suspects, later identified as Abdul Rahman, 34, sustained serious gunshot injuries during the shootout. Before succumbing to his wounds at St. Martin De Porres Hospital in Ekwie, Rahman named one Mohammed and other individuals as accomplices.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the robbers assaulted two attendants at the shop, inflicting gunshot and machete wounds. The victims, Samuel Applah, 29, and Kiamena Nketiah, 45, are currently receiving treatment at St. Martin De Porres Hospital. Applah sustained a cutlass wound to his right thigh, while Nketiah was shot in both thighs.

Further police operations on August 1, 2025, led to the arrest of Mohammed Adamu, 25, whose name was mentioned by the deceased suspect. Adamu is currently in police custody assisting with investigations.

A subsequent search of a nearby bush area where the suspects were believed to have fled yielded vital evidence including:

  • Seven spent AK-47 assault rifle shells
  • Eight live AK-47 rounds
  • Two BB cartridges with spent shells
  • An empty 88 cartridge case
  • Two motorbike keys

The Western Regional Police Command, through its Public Affairs Unit, has assured the public that rigorous efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects and ensure that all perpetrators face the full rigour of the law.
