Mr James Gunu, Volta Regional Minister, has paid a heartfelt visit to his alma mater, Papa Otempong Memorial School (formerly Okadjakrom L/A Basic School), in the Jasikan Municipality of the Oti Region, where he began his academic journey.
In a moving homecoming, Mr. Gunu donated teaching and learning materials to the school as a gesture of appreciation and support for the institution that helped shape his early education.
Addressing the staff and pupils, the Minister described the visit as deeply personal and emotional, saying the school had played a pivotal role in laying the foundation for his life and career.

“This is the school that gave me my start—the place where my dreams first took root,” he said.
“It is only right that I return, not just to say thank you, but to help provide the same opportunity for others.”
He added that investing in education remains one of the most impactful ways of transforming lives and communities, emphasising that no child should be limited by their background or location.
“I believe every child, regardless of where they were born or raised, deserves the chance to dream big and reach their full potential,” Mr. Gunu said.
“My hope is that this small gesture will not only inspire these students but also encourage others to give back to their roots.”
The donation included exercise books, stationery, and other educational materials aimed at enhancing the quality of teaching and learning in the school.
The Minister assured the school community of his continued support and promised to advocate for further educational interventions in the area.
Teachers and students expressed their gratitude for the visit and the donations, describing it as a source of motivation and a reminder that greatness can emerge from humble beginnings.
The visit also afforded Mr. Gunu the opportunity to interact with community leaders and education stakeholders, as he reiterated government’s commitment to improving access to quality education across all regions of Ghana.
