Police Intercept Two Trucks Loaded with 152 Bales of Suspected Narcotics in Western Region

The Western Regional Police Command has intercepted two trucks carrying 152 bales of dried leaves suspected to be narcotic substances and arrested three individuals in connection with the case. The operation took place on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at about 5:20 p.m., when officers on duty at the Assorkor barrier near Shama stopped a Kia Rhino truck with registration number GE 8965-12. The vehicle was found loaded with bales believed to contain narcotic drugs. Upon spotting the police, the occupants of the truck fled the scene. Shortly after, a 44-year-old man identified as Moses Kwaku Tawiah appeared at the barrier and claimed ownership of the impounded truck on behalf of his brother. Zoomlion procures more trucks to improve waste collection, sanitation

The Bono Regional Office of the Zoomlion Ghana Limited, a waste management and sanitation firm, has taken delivery of five new skip-trucks to improve waste collection and sanitation in the Region. Mrs Benedict Awuah, the Bono Regional Coordinator of Zoomlion, who unveiled the trucks in Sunyani, told the media that they would serve as a backup to the company’s fleet trucks for waste collection. She said the firm had split the Bono Region into five zones, saying each of the zones would receive a truck which would greatly improve waste collection and management in the local communities. Mrs Awuah reaffirmed the company's commitment to improving waste collection and proper sanitation in the country, and urged the people to avoid littering and indiscriminate dumping of plastic waste. ...
