GJA Mourns Eight Officials Killed in Helicopter Crash, Urges Responsible Media Coverage

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic death of five senior government officials and three members of the Ghana Air Force in a helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi District of the Ashanti Region. GJA calls for close Police-Media relations to strengthen security

Mr Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), has called for closer collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the media to help strengthen security in communities. He acknowledged that in recent times, the police had been updating the media frequently on intelligence gathered relating to crime and other negative vices. “I commend the police for their recent engagements with the media, but let us try to deepen the relationship. President Mahama, Justice Baffoe-Bonnie to witness swearing-in of GJA executives

President John Dramani Mahama and the Acting Chief Justice, Justice Paul Baffoe-Bonnie, are expected to attend the swearing-in ceremony of the newly-elected National Executives of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) on Friday, July 11. GJA president hails 2025 elections as “smoothest process ever”

GJA Elections Committee cautions against disruptive acts ahead of June 30 Polls

Volta Regional Minister donates laptops to GJA and state media outlets

GJA 2025 Elections: Full list of candidates released

The Elections Committee of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) Wednesday released the full list of candidates approved to contest the GJA Elections on June 30, 2025. A total of 13 national candidates and 49 regional candidates were approved by the Elections Committee to contest various leadership positions within the Association. A statement signed by Mr Peter Martey Agbeko, the Elections Committee chairman, said nominations for the vice chairperson position in the Volta Region remained open until 1700 hours on Monday, June 17, 2025. GJA condemns Obuasi killings, condoles with bereaved families

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has condemned the recent violent clash between soldiers and illegal miners in Obuasi, which resulted in the deaths of seven individuals.
