Manhyia Palace Issues Safety Directives Ahead of Asantehemaa’s Final Funeral Rites
The Manhyia Palace has released a public announcement reminding chiefs, traditional leaders, and members of the public attending the final burial rites (Dote Yie) of the late Nana Konadu Yiadom III, Asantehemaa (1927–2025), to strictly comply with safety regulations put in place for the ceremony scheduled for Thursday, September 18, 2025.
According to the announcement, the use of live ammunition has been strictly prohibited during the event. However, the firing of muskets, a long-standing traditional practice, will be permitted under one condition: they must be discharged only into the sky, and not directed at any individual or towards the ground.
The Palace further cautioned that any violations of these directives will result in immediate arrest and appropriate legal action.
