Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South and Ranking Member of the Parliamentary Select Committee on Defence and Interior, has expressed heartfelt gratitude to Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for visiting his residence following what he describes as a politically-motivated act of harassment by agents allegedly acting under the authority of the NDC government.
In a message shared on social media, Rev. Fordjour acknowledged the Vice President’s timely visit on the evening of April 10, stating:
“Thank you very much H.E. Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for the visit to my residence this evening following the politically-motivated lawless act of harassment in the attempt of the NDC government to gag MPs from exercising their legitimate oversight.”

Rev. Fordjour’s statement follows an alleged attempted raid on his home by individuals purported to be officials from the National Investigations Bureau (NIB), an incident that has raised concerns over increasing political intimidation and suppression of parliamentary oversight.
The Assin South MP described the move as part of a broader attempt by the current administration to silence Members of Parliament who are carrying out their constitutional duty to hold government accountable.
This latest development adds to the growing tension between the Minority Caucus and the executive, particularly over the handling of calls for probes into key national issues.
Dr. Bawumia’s visit has been widely interpreted as a show of solidarity and a reaffirmation of the opposition’s commitment to democratic principles, rule of law, and the protection of parliamentary independence.
There has been no official comment yet from the National Investigations Bureau or the Office of the President regarding the alleged incident.
