Residents of Kasoa Peace Town Demand Intensified Police Patrols Amid Rising Armed Robberies

Residents of Peace Town, a fast-growing community in Kasoa, are raising alarm over an increasing wave of armed robberies in the area and are calling on the Ghana Police Service to intensify patrols to ensure their safety.

Over the past few weeks, multiple households and small businesses in Peace Town have reportedly fallen victim to brazen attacks by armed men, often operating under the cover of darkness. According to residents, the robbers frequently strike during the early hours of the morning, taking away money, mobile phones, and other valuables at gunpoint.

“We live in fear every night,” said Madam Akua Mensah, a local trader. “Last week, three armed men stormed my neighbour’s house, broke their gate, and robbed them of cash and phones. We called the police, but by the time they came, the robbers were long gone.”

Another resident, Mr. Emmanuel Tetteh, described the situation as “out of control,” noting that many community members are unable to sleep peacefully due to the constant fear of being attacked. “We pay our taxes. The least we expect is protection. Peace Town is no longer peaceful,” he lamented.

Community leaders, together with residents, are now appealing to the Awutu Senya East Municipal Police Command to increase both day and night patrols in the area. They also urged authorities to consider setting up a dedicated police post within Peace Town to enable swift response to emergencies.

Several reports have been made to the Central East Regional Police Command who have acknowledged receiving reports of increased criminal activity in the area and assured that measures are being put in place to address the issue.

As residents continue to call for immediate action, many hope that intensified police presence and community collaboration will help restore the peace and security that once defined Peace Town.
