Calm has been restored at Nsuaem in the Western Region after a violent attack on the Nsuaem Police Station by an angry mob on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.
According to the Western Central Regional Police Command, the incident began when a group of about fifteen men, accompanied by two children aged seven and five, brought a suspect, Sulley Moses, aged 25, to the police station. The group alleged that they had seen the suspect conversing with the children near the Nivo Filling Station and suspected he was attempting to lure them away.
Police say they detained the suspect after one of the children confirmed that he had forcibly held the hand of one of them as they tried to leave.

Shortly after the arrest, a mob of about 500 people armed with stones and other offensive weapons stormed the police station, demanding the suspect’s release. The irate crowd blocked the Takoradi–Tarkwa highway, set tyres ablaze, and pelted stones at the police, resulting in damage to two vehicles, parts of the police station building, and several impounded motorbikes.
Police reinforcements, with support from the military, were deployed to disperse the mob and restore order. In the process, three police officers and four civilians sustained injuries and were treated at the Nsuaem Government Hospital. One of the civilians was later transferred to the Effia Nkwanta Regional Hospital for further treatment.
The police have since transferred the suspect to the Tarkwa Regional Headquarters for further investigation. Meanwhile, all officers at the Nsuaem Police Station have been relocated to a safe location, and the station has been temporarily closed down.
In a statement, the Western Central Regional Police Command strongly condemned the attack, describing it as “a threat to public order and the rule of law.” The Command assured residents that all individuals involved in the violent act will be identified, arrested, and prosecuted.
“The Command wishes to assure the public that calm has been restored in Nsuaem, and security has been reinforced to ensure safety and normalcy,” the statement added.
