The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) of the Ghana Police Service has arrested a man seen in a viral Facebook video physically assaulting a woman believed to be his wife. The incident occurred at their residence in Ofankor in the Ga East Municipality.
The suspect, identified as John Odartey Lamptey, was picked up on Monday, November 17, 2025, at the family home.
According to police reports, two of his siblings Grace Kushie Lamptey and Louis Odartey Lamptey were also arrested after they attempted to attack a female tenant they suspected of recording and circulating the disturbing video. The tenant was immediately rescued and placed under police protection to ensure her safety.
Meanwhile, efforts are ongoing to locate the victim, who fled the scene before officers arrived. Police say ensuring her safety and wellbeing is a top priority.
The Ghana Police Service reiterated its commitment to combating domestic violence and vowed to ensure that all individuals involved face the full rigour of the law.
