The management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has assured the university community and the general public that the State has taken over the prosecution of the murder case involving the late Miss Joana Deladem Yabani, a student whose tragic death shocked the nation.

In a statement signed by University Management, KNUST confirmed that the accused person remains in lawful custody on remand as the legal process continues. The University also reaffirmed its commitment to cooperate fully with law enforcement agencies to ensure that justice is served.

“We wish to assure the University community that the State has taken over the prosecution of the case, and the accused person remains in lawful custody on remand as the legal process continues,” the statement read.

Management expressed deep sympathy to the family, friends, and all who have been affected by the tragic loss, acknowledging the emotions and grief surrounding the incident.

“We deeply understand the emotions surrounding this painful incident and empathise with the family, friends, and all who are affected,” the statement added.

KNUST further appealed to students and the public to remain calm and allow the due process of law to take its course, emphasizing that justice, though sometimes slow, will ultimately be delivered.

“We must remember that though the wheels of justice turn slowly, they never stop — justice will surely prevail,” Management noted.

The University reiterated its unwavering commitment to the safety, welfare, and dignity of all members of the KNUST community.
