The Inspector-General of Police, Dr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has paid a courtesy call on the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to discuss ways of strengthening collaboration between the security services and the sports sector.
The meeting, held at the Ministry of Sports and Recreation on Monday afternoon, focused on improving safety and security at sporting events across the country.
During the engagement, the Minister commended the Ghana Police Service for the professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the Sports Police Units, noting that their presence has significantly enhanced security at league venues nationwide.

Mr. Adams emphasized that ensuring a safe environment at sporting facilities is essential for the growth of sports in the country and for encouraging greater participation by fans and athletes alike.
The discussions also highlighted the achievements of the Police Ladies Football Club, whose performances in continental competitions continue to project Ghana positively on the African stage.
According to the Minister, the success of the club demonstrates the strong link between sports and national institutions, and serves as an inspiration to young athletes across the country.
Beyond competitions, the two leaders explored opportunities to deepen cooperation in sports infrastructure development and recreational activities. They acknowledged that sports play a vital role in promoting discipline, healthy living and national unity.
Mr. Adams expressed appreciation to the IGP for the visit and reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to working closely with the Ghana Police Service to strengthen sports and recreation in the country.
The meeting forms part of ongoing efforts to enhance collaboration between key institutions to ensure the growth, safety and sustainability of sporting activities in Ghana.
