The Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has strongly condemned the assault on Samuel Addo, a journalist with the Class Media Group, allegedly carried out by some personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS).
In a statement addressing the incident, the Minister described the attack as “most unacceptable”, stressing that acts of violence against journalists undermine press freedom and Ghana’s democratic values. He emphasized that media practitioners must be allowed to carry out their duties without fear, intimidation, or harassment.
Mr. Kwakye Ofosu assured the public that the government will not tolerate misconduct by state security agencies, adding that firm action will be taken against the rogue elements involved in the attack. According to him, appropriate disciplinary measures will be pursued to ensure accountability and to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.

The Minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting journalists and upholding freedom of the press, noting that professionalism and respect for human rights must guide the conduct of all public service personnel.
