BAWUMIA LAUNCHES NATIONWIDE CAMPAIGN AHEAD OF NPP FLAGBEARER CONTEST

The campaign team of Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia has announced the official commencement of his nationwide campaign tour as part of his bid to become the Flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) ahead of the party’s presidential primaries.

According to a statement signed by Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Communications Director for the Bawumia Campaign, the tour will officially begin on Wednesday, October 15, 2025, and will cover all 276 constituencies across the country.

The grassroots-focused initiative aims to provide Dr. Bawumia with the opportunity to engage directly with Polling Station Executives, Electoral Area Coordinators, Constituency Executives (both current and former), Former Members of Parliament, Former MMDCEs, Patrons, and Members of the Council of Elders.

The campaign team emphasized that the tour underscores Dr. Bawumia’s commitment to building consensus, fostering unity, and strengthening the foundations of the party from the grassroots level.

“Dr. Bawumia looks forward to sharing his vision and working collectively with party members to secure a resounding victory for the NPP in the 2028 general elections,” the statement read.

Call for Issues-Based Campaigning

The campaign team also used the opportunity to call for decorum and civility in political discourse as the NPP heads into its presidential primaries.

While acknowledging the enthusiasm and robust debate surrounding the contest, the statement expressed concern about the increasing trend of personal attacks and unsubstantiated allegations among some supporters and communicators.

“Such conduct is not in the spirit of the NPP and runs counter to the values of unity, respect, and decency that we hold dear,” the statement noted.

The Bawumia Campaign therefore issued a directive to all its communicators, supporters, and volunteers, urging them to focus on issues, verifiable facts, and policy-driven discussions.

Three Key Guidelines for Campaign Communication

  1. Refrain from Insults and Personal Attacks:
Supporters are advised to desist from making derogatory remarks or personal attacks against other aspirants, their families, or their supporters.
  2. Ground Communications in Facts and Substance:
The team urged all spokespersons to base their engagements on verifiable facts, sound arguments, and comparative analysis of ideas and track records.
  3. Uphold the Dignity of the Party:
The statement reminded supporters that the ultimate goal is to ensure party unity and national progress, cautioning against divisive rhetoric that could weaken the NPP’s front.

“We believe in the superiority of Dr. Bawumia’s message and his vision for our party and nation. When the debate is focused on issues, his qualifications, experience, and transformative ideas will resonate decisively with the delegates,” the statement added.

The campaign concluded with an appeal to all NPP members to conduct themselves with respect, integrity, and unity, as the party prepares for what is expected to be a keenly contested flagbearer election.
