The Member of Parliament for the Efutu Constituency and Minority Leader of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Hon. Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has donated an amount of GHS 100,000 towards the construction of the Avenor Traditional Council building in the Volta Region.
Hon. Afenyo-Markin made the donation when he attended a meeting of the Avenor Traditional Council in Akatsi on Tuesday. The contribution, he explained, is aimed at supporting the completion of the Traditional Council’s permanent office complex, which is expected to enhance the administration of traditional affairs and promote unity and development within the area.
Speaking at the meeting, the Minority Leader underscored the important role traditional authorities play in governance, conflict resolution, and community development. He noted that investing in traditional institutions is essential for preserving cultural heritage and strengthening local leadership structures.

The chiefs and elders of the Avenor Traditional Council expressed their gratitude to Hon. Afenyo-Markin for the generous donation and his show of solidarity. They described the support as timely and pledged to ensure that the funds are used judiciously to advance the project.
The Avenor Traditional Council building project, when completed, is expected to serve as a central hub for traditional administration and cultural activities in the area.
