Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, Member of Parliament for Klottey-Korle, has paid a courtesy call on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at the Manhyia Palace.
The visit, held on Wednesday, formed part of her engagements as Chairperson of the Committee on Security and Intelligence and a member of Ghana’s delegation to the Pan-African Parliament.
Dr. Agyeman-Rawlings expressed gratitude for the continued guidance of the Asantehene—whom she described as her uncle—and briefed him on recent developments.
Their discussions centered on the security situation in conflict-prone areas of the country, with mutual concern expressed over the toll on affected communities and the importance of achieving sustainable peace.
The Asantehene, recognised for his efforts in conflict resolution, reaffirmed the value of dialogue and culturally rooted approaches to peace-building.
Dr. Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings shared outcomes from the recent visit of the All Regions Queenmothers Association to Parliament, noting their focus on women’s representation, peace-building initiatives, and cultural heritage preservation.
“These engagements are vital in bridging the gap between modern governance and indigenous authority,” she stated.
The meeting highlighted the enduring ties between traditional and political leadership and concluded with a renewed commitment to national unity, strengthened security, and greater inclusion of queenmothers in development processes.
