Vice President celebrates farmers, reaffirms government commitment to agriculture

Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang has paid glowing tribute to the nation’s farmers as Ghana marks this year’s Farmers’ Day, emphasising their indispensable role in feeding the country and sustaining its development.

In a statement issued to commemorate the day, the Vice President praised the dedication of men and women whose labour ensures food security and supports millions of livelihoods. She highlighted the dignity of their work and the hope they sow each season, noting that the nation’s progress is deeply rooted in their commitment.

Professor Opoku-Agyemang placed special emphasis on the contributions of women farmers, acknowledging the countless women who head to their farms each day to provide for their families. Their resilience and determination, she said, inspire government’s resolve to build a system that supports, protects, and expands opportunities for them.

“On Farmers’ Day, we reaffirm our gratitude and our responsibility,” she stated, assuring the public that government will continue to roll out policies aimed at strengthening the agricultural sector, ensuring fair returns for farmers, and creating dignified working conditions across the country.

The Vice President ended her message with a prayerful appeal: “May God bless our homeland and the farmers who cultivate its soil,” reaffirming the nation’s enduring appreciation for its agricultural workforce.
