The University of Cape Coast (UCC) has congratulated the University for Development Studies (UDS) football team for winning the 2025 FISU World University Games football competition.
In a statement issued on Monday, UCC described the victory as a historic achievement that highlights the team’s discipline, determination, and resilience, while reinforcing Ghana’s reputation for sporting excellence in higher education.
According to UCC, the triumph does not only bring honour to UDS but also lifts Ghana’s flag high on the global sporting stage. “Your success demonstrates the power of teamwork, commitment, and the pursuit of brilliance that inspire students and staff across our universities,” the statement noted.
The university also commended the players, coaches, management, and supporters of UDS for their dedication, stressing that the victory should serve as a catalyst for stronger collaboration and the advancement of university sports in Ghana and beyond.
“Once again, congratulations to the UDS football team for this outstanding feat. UCC is proud of you,” the statement concluded.
UDS’s victory marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s participation in international university sports, earning the nation global recognition in football.
