
The Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of two young men in Walewale for stealing a pistol and ammunition belonging to an Immigration officer.
According to a press release issued by the Regional Headquarters of the Ghana Police Service in Nalerigu, the suspects, identified as Mohammed Basit (18 years old) and Baba Rasid (22 years old), broke into the officer’s room on Saturday, May 17, 2025, around 12:00pm while he was away.
The suspects allegedly made away with a Smith and Wesson pistol loaded with ten rounds of ammunition, along with two CZ rifle magazines, each containing 30 rounds.

Police investigations revealed that the suspects hid the stolen items in a stationary vehicle at Kperiga, a suburb of Walewale. Acting on intelligence, the police moved in swiftly and arrested the suspects at the said location.
The police assured the public that investigations are still ongoing, and the suspects will be arraigned before court in due course.
