Renowned Ghanaian legal luminary, Tsatsu Tsikata, has announced the cancellation of a planned three-day event to commemorate his 50 years in legal practice, following the tragic helicopter crash that claimed the lives of two Ministers of State and six others.
In a media release issued on Tuesday, Mr. Tsikata expressed deep sorrow over the loss, describing the incident as heartbreaking. The statement, issued under the letterhead of Fugar and Company, the firm with which he is affiliated, noted that the entire legal community and the nation are “overwhelmed with grief.”
“Following the tragic news of a helicopter crash that has sadly taken the lives of the two Ministers of State and six others, the three-day event to celebrate fifty years of my legal practice is cancelled,” the statement read.

Mr. Tsikata, a barrister and solicitor known for his influential role in Ghana’s legal and political landscape, extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, saying, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the deceased.”
The accident, which occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, has sent shockwaves across the country, prompting the President to order national flags to fly at half-mast in honour of the departed.
Mr. Tsikata’s legal journey spans five decades of exceptional service, during which he has served in various capacities including as a lecturer, legal advisor, and prominent figure in numerous landmark cases in Ghana.
The cancellation of his milestone celebration stands as a mark of respect and solidarity with the nation during this time of mourning.
