Three Arrested over shooting incident and trespassing at celebrity golf club, Sakumono

The Sakumono District Police Command in Accra has arrested three individuals in connection with a shooting incident and unlawful trespassing at the Celebrity Golf Club area in Sakumono on Saturday, 18th October 2025.

The suspects — identified as Abubakar Mohammed, aged 28, Eric Asare, aged 23, and Felix Darko, aged 48 — were apprehended following swift police intervention after reports of gunshots in the vicinity.

Preliminary investigations by the police revealed that the suspects, who allegedly posed as National Security operatives, forcibly entered a construction site owned by one of the executives of the Celebrity Golf Club. During the intrusion, the suspects reportedly discharged firearms, causing damage to parts of the property.

According to police sources, the incident is suspected to be connected to an ongoing land dispute involving certain parties within the Nungua Traditional Council.

All three suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting with ongoing investigations.

The Accra Regional Police Command has cautioned the public against acts of lawlessness, particularly in relation to land and property disputes. The Command reiterated its commitment to maintaining peace and order, emphasizing that any individuals or groups found engaging in criminal acts will be dealt with in accordance with the law.

The police further assured residents and businesses in the Sakumono area of enhanced security measures and urged community members to remain calm and continue to cooperate with law enforcement authorities.
