In a dramatic turn of events on Sunday night, officers from the Tema Regional Police Command engaged a group of armed robbers in a fierce gun battle at the Tema Industrial Area in Kpone, resulting in the deaths of three suspects.
The confrontation occurred after police received a distress call on July 21, 2025, alerting them to a robbery in progress at a warehouse. A patrol team from the Kpone District Command swiftly responded to the call and met the armed men—numbering about ten—at the scene.

According to a police statement signed by ASP Dede Dzakpasu, Head of Public Affairs for the Tema Region, the suspects opened fire upon the arrival of law enforcement, prompting the officers to return fire. Three of the assailants were fatally shot during the exchange, while the rest fled—some believed to be injured.
Recovered from the scene were several weapons and ammunition, including a Bruni model foreign pistol, a double-barrelled locally manufactured pistol loaded with two rounds, and 11 live BB rounds.
The bodies of the deceased suspects have since been transported to the Police Hospital Morgue for identification, preservation, and autopsy. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to apprehend the remaining fugitives.
The police have commended the officers of the Kpone District Command for their swift and courageous response, which likely prevented further criminal activity and safeguarded public safety.
Investigations into the attempted robbery are ongoing. The public is encouraged to provide any information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
