Atti-Morkwa Chief Imam urges action on galamsey, LGBTQ+ concerns
In a strong appeal for government intervention, Alhaji Idris Ahmed, the Chief Imam of the Twifo Atti Morkwa District of the Central Region, has urged decisive action against illegal mining activities and the LGBTQ+ community.
He expressed concerns that illegal miners, known locally as "galamseyers," have severely polluted vital water bodies, particularly the River Pra, threatening the very livelihoods and health of the people.
Additionally, he stated that the LGBTQ+ community does not align with the cultural and religious values of the area and must be checked to forestall any confusion. Alhaji Hussein Ismail Mussah made the remarks on behalf of Imam Idris Ahmed during a National Prayer Day event held at the Twifo Praso Central Mosque.
