Suspect remanded over immigration officer’s murder

Bright Aweh has appeared before the Kaneshie District Court over the alleged murder of Ghana Immigration Service officer, Stephen King Amoah. Aweh, also known as Robert or Highest Bright, faces a provisional charge of murder. His plea was not taken, and he was remanded into police custody to reappear on August 8, 2025. Chief Inspector Apewa Achana, leading the prosecution, requested the remand to allow for further investigations. Mr. Amoah went missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving home to meet a friend at Ashongman Estates. His charred body was discovered days later in a drain at Aboum Junction near Kwabenya. The Ghana Police Service has arrested a suspect in connection with the tragic death of a 21-year-old student from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi.
