Ghana to Hold State Funeral for Eight Citizens Lost in Helicopter Crash

The President of the Republic of Ghana, H.E. John Dramani Mahama, and Vice President H.E. Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang, together with the Government, the people of Ghana, and the families of the departed, have announced plans for a state funeral in honour of eight Ghanaians who tragically lost their lives. The solemn ceremony will take place on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra, beginning at 8:00 a.m. The state funeral will bring together dignitaries, family members, and citizens from all walks of life to pay their last respects to the deceased, whose passing has deeply saddened the nation. The public is cordially invited to attend the event and join in honouring the memory of the eight fallen compatriots.

State Burial for Dr. Murtala Mohammed and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed Set for August 10

The Government of Ghana, in collaboration with the families of the late Hon. Dr. Ibrahim Mohammed Murtala and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, has announced burial arrangements for the two distinguished statesmen who tragically lost their lives in the August 6 helicopter crash. The announcement, made by the Presidency, stated that the rites will be conducted in accordance with Islamic tradition, custom, and practices.
