Upper West Police Arrest Nine Suspects, Recover Service Weapons After Attack on Officers in Saawie
The Upper West Regional Police Command has arrested nine suspects and recovered all four service weapons stolen during an attack on police officers at Saawie, a community in the Jirapa Municipality.
The incident occurred on Friday, December 5, 2025, when a mob of about thirty (30) youth attacked police officers who were in the community conducting investigations. The attackers allegedly overpowered the officers, seized four of their service weapons, and inflicted injuries on them.
Following the assault, the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Francis Yiribaare, led a reinforcement team to Saawie, where they managed to rescue the injured officers and evacuate them for medical care.
