Kwahu Incident: Queen Mother released as police open investigation into morning operation

The Queen Mother of Kwahu has been released on the orders of the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) following an operation carried out by some police officers earlier this morning. In a statement, the IGP directed the Police Professional Standards Bureau (PPSB) to launch a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding the operation. The probe is expected to establish whether due procedure was followed and identify any officers who may have acted unprofessionally. Those found culpable will face appropriate sanctions, the statement added. Meanwhile, security has been heightened in and around the Kwahu area to ensure the safety and protection of residents and visitors. NDC will work with queen mothers to fight poverty- Prof Opoku Agyemang

The vice presidential candidate of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, says the next NDC government will actively engage and work with queen mothers to fight poverty. Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said this when she addressed a forum of Central Regional QueenMothers on Tuesday. Speaking on the theme "building the Central Region we want, the shared perspectives from our queen mothers”, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang said it leaves much to be desired that the Central Region is described as the fourth poorest region in Ghana. The Nana Serwaa Barakatu Humanitarian and Endowment Foundation, in cooperation with the National Lottery Authority (NLA) Good Causes Foundation, has organised a day’s workshop to enhance the capacity of queen mothers in leadership and governance..
