Kukurantumi Police Station Closed After Violent Attacks by Youths

The Eastern Regional Police Command has announced the closure of the Kukurantumi Police Station and the withdrawal of all police personnel from the community following violent attacks on the station. According to police reports, the incident occurred on Sunday, September 21, 2025, around 7:00 a.m., when a group of irate youth launched an attack on the station and its barracks. Armed with stones, clubs, and other implements, the attackers attempted to set the building ablaze. The unrest was triggered by the death of a suspect, Bright Kena, popularly known as D-ball, who had been arrested on charges of unlawful entry and stealing.
