Volta Regional Police Intercept Ammunition in Early Morning Operation
In a significant development in the fight against transnational crime, the Volta Regional Police have intercepted a large cache of ammunition during a routine search at the Tadzewu-Mitsrikasa Police barrier.
According to a press release issued by the Regional Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the operation took place on April 18, 2025, at approximately 3:30 a.m. Police officers on duty stopped a Hyundai bus traveling from Accra to Benin, bearing registration number GR 8246-Q, with several passengers on board.
A thorough inspection of the vehicle led to the discovery of 60 cartons of AAA cartridges containing 15,000 rounds and 72 cartons of BB cartridges with 18,000 rounds. The ammunition was concealed in sacks and hidden beneath luggage.
