Western Region GNFS holds mid-year religious Thanksgiving Service

The Western Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) has organised a mid-year religious Thanksgiving Service at the forecourt of its Headquarters at Fijai in the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis. The event was also characterised by a send-off ceremony for some retired officers, and the installation of a new Chaplain for the Command. C/R: Five Injured in Near-Fatal Crash at Ekumfi Essakyir

A serious road accident occurred on the Mankessim–Apam highway at Ekumfi Essakyir, involving a DAF Articulator Truck (registration number AS 3215-25) and a Hyundai Starex minivan (registration number AKN 620XA). The collision left five individuals trapped inside the Hyundai Starex, all of whom were successfully rescued and rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency medical care. Dzindziso accident in Kadjebi District claims one Life

GNFS Rescues Trapped Driver After Accident at Bethel Junction

A driver was rescued from his mangled vehicle after a serious accident at Bethel Junction near New Abirem on Sunday evening. At 1836 hours, the New Abirem Municipal Fire Station received a distress call about the incident. A team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found a heavily damaged vehicle with the driver trapped inside. The crew swiftly secured the area, disconnected the vehicle’s battery to prevent any fire hazards, and carefully extricated the victim at 1907 hours. GNFS entreats citizens to support the fight against fire outbreak

GNFS, North Dakota National Guard train personnel to manage harzadous materials   

The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), in collaboration with the North Dakota National Guard, has successfully concluded a week-long hazardous materials (hazmat) training for 55 selected security officers.    The programme, held at the GNFS Headquarters in Accra, saw 45 GNFS officers, five Ghana Armed Forces personnel, and five National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) officers equipped with critical skills to effectively manage hazardous materials during emergencies.   Participants engaged in both theoretical and practical simulations and were taken through the identification of hazardous substances, chemical properties, emergency response protocols, and decontamination procedures to reinforce their ability to respond to real-world incidents.   Mr Jul...

Fire incidents in Western Region down by 12 per cent in 2024

The Western Region recorded a decline in fire incidents last year by 12 per cent from 361 cases in 2023 to 317 in 2024. Reports from the Western Regional Command of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) showed that there was also a decrease in fire-related injuries and fatalities from 184 injuries in 2023 to 30 in 2024. The number of fire related death also reduced from 20 in 2023 to 14 in 2024. Rebuilding of Kantamanto must meet fire safety standards- GNFS
