A driver was rescued from his mangled vehicle after a serious accident at Bethel Junction near New Abirem on Sunday evening.
At 1836 hours, the New Abirem Municipal Fire Station received a distress call about the incident. A team of firefighters was immediately dispatched to the scene, where they found a heavily damaged vehicle with the driver trapped inside.
The crew swiftly secured the area, disconnected the vehicle’s battery to prevent any fire hazards, and carefully extricated the victim at 1907 hours. The rescued driver was handed over to the National Ambulance Service (GV 810-19) for first aid and transportation to a medical facility for treatment.
According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when the speeding driver hit a pothole, experienced brake failure, and lost control, ultimately crashing into a tree. The vehicle’s front end sustained extensive damage.
Thanks to the quick intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the driver was safely rescued, preventing further harm. Authorities have urged motorists to drive cautiously and ensure their vehicles are in good condition to avoid similar incidents.
