GJA Election: Voting progresses in Sunyani 

Voting is progressing in Sunyani as Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) elects national and regional executives to steer the affairs for the next three years.  In all 27 members of the association drawn from the Bono and Ahafo Regions are expected to cast their ballots in the election underway at the Bono Regional Office of the Electoral Commission (EC) and being supervised by the commission.  In an interview with the Ghana News Agency ((GNA) in Sunyani, Mr Emmanuel Adu-Gyamerah, the GJA’s Election Officer for the Bono Region said voting commenced around 0820 hours.  Describing the electoral process as smooth, he said he was hopeful that the election would be conducted peacefully.  Mr Asirifi Young, the Bono Regional Director of the EC, earlier took agents of some of the candidates and ...

GJA goes to the polls today, 62 aspirants await their fate

Eligible members of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) will today (Monday) go to the polls to elect national and regional officers to steer the affairs of the Association for the next three years. Polls open at 0800hours and close at 1500hours, with a total of 883 members expected to cast their ballot across the country. The GJA Elections Committee has announced that the Ghana Card, Passport, and Voter Identification Card will be the valid forms of identification. A total of 62 candidates have been cleared to contest the various positions - 13 at the national level and 49 across the regions. GJA election takes off smoothly in Takoradi  

The national and regional Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) election has taken off smoothly at the Takoradi Press Centre, the venue for the Western Regional voting centre.   A total of  20 registered voters are expected to cast their ballots to elect the next National and Western Regional executives of the GJA.   The election was being supervised by officials of the Western Region Electoral Commission (EC), with a representative of the GJA present to monitor proceedings.  When the Ghana News Agency (GNA) visited the voting centre as of 1010 hours, it observed that the process was progressing steadily with seven persons having cast their votes.  Mr George Folley, a voter, who spoke to the GNA after casting his ballot,  expressed satisfaction about the ...
