Three Arrested in Connection with Robbery and Murder of Mobile Money Vendors in Ashanti Region

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended three individuals suspected of being involved in the brutal robbery and murder of two mobile money vendors in the Ashanti Region. According to the police, the first incident occurred on Thursday, 13th February 2025, in Krofrom around noon, where the victim, Patricia Nimako, was attacked and fatally shot. Her assailants also made away with an undisclosed amount of money. A second attack took place on the night of Monday, 10th March 2025, in Kwadaso. The victim, identified as Gideon Owusu Sarpong, popularly known as “Junior,” was also robbed and murdered at his residence. Fawoade Bampenase residents plead with the Ghana Police Service to strengthen security.

Residents of Fawoade Bampenase in the Kwabre East Municipality of Ashanti, have called on the Ghana Police Service to come to their aid by increasing visibility and strengthening security in the area. According to them, the rampant robbery incidents in the area had become a source of worry and created fear and panic among residents in the community. The robberies, which were caused by some unidentified youth in the community in broad daylight, during light outs and evenings, were becoming a critical concern to many people in the area. Police Arrest Another Suspect in Violent Disturbances During Nsoatreman FC vs. Asante Kotoko Match

In relation to the violent incidents that broke out during the February 2, 2025, football game between Nsoatreman FC and Kumasi Asante Kotoko FC, the Ghana Police Service has detained an additional suspect. The suspect was arrested as part of an ongoing investigation and was identified as Elizabeth Akosua Ntiriwaa, also known as Akosua Black Chinese. Six individuals have been detained in connection with the event after her detention.
