HRRG and JRF demand justice for 13-year-old girl allegedly defiled by over 20 men in Madina

Human Rights Reporters Ghana (HRRG) and the Justice Revived Foundation (JRF) are calling for action after a disturbing case of gang-defilement involving a 13-year-old girl, from Madina, Accra. The girl, a pupil of Madina No. 3 School, was allegedly assaulted by over 20 men, including teenagers, starting in February 2025. Defilement, incest now common in Tano North Municipality-Director  

Cases of defilement and incest are now common in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region,, Madam Angelina Aboagyewaa Appiah, the Tano North Municipal Director of the Social Welfare Department has said.She said the municipality had since January 2025 recorded five cases of defilement, mostly linked to incest, saying that alcoholism and substance abuse were identifiable factors that influenced the perpetrators to commit the crime.Madam Appiah said though perpetrators had been prosecuted, many of the cases remained unreported because the victims and their families feared societal stigmatisation.She added that certain belief systems and poverty were also fueling transactional sex, and child marriage and teenage pregnancy in the municipality, and called for stakeholder support to bring ...

Two men jailed for defilement in Oti Region

Two individuals, Joseph Boateng, alias Small pepper, 37, and Hashiru Zurukanini, alias Scare them, 27, have been sentenced to seven years imprisonment each for defilement and abetment of defilement, respectively. This is contained in a release signed and copied to the Ghana News Agency by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. John Nchor of Public Affairs Units of the Oti Regional Command. The convicts were arraigned before the Jasikan Circuit Court, presided over by Mr Lambert Yinigabague Keriba. Mohammed Abudi Sentenced to Seven Years for Defilement in Wa Municipality

The Upper West Regional Police Command has confirmed the arrest and successful prosecution of Mohammed Abudi for defiling a 13-year-old girl in the Guli community within the Wa Municipality. According to a press release issued by the Public Affairs Unit of the Ghana Police Service, the crime occurred on Friday, April 11, 2025. Following a swift and proactive policing effort, Abudi was apprehended just two days later, on Sunday, April 13, 2025. Defilement: ‘Aboboyaa’ rider remanded in custody
