The Ghana Police Service has inaugurated a 24-hour secretariat, fulfilling President John Dramani Mahama’s 2024 campaign pledge to enhance round-the-clock public services.
The initiative aims to stimulate job creation and economic growth by promoting shift-based operations across both public and private sectors.
Speaking at the passing-out ceremony of 1,194 new recruits, including 633 females and 561 males, Interior Minister Alhaji Mubarak Mohammed Muntaka urged officers to serve with commitment and professionalism to meet the rising expectations of the public.

He explained that new units, including the secretariat, have been introduced to help the Service respond effectively to evolving crime trends.
Praising the recruits’ dedication, the Minister said their discipline and resilience during training demonstrated their preparedness to tackle modern-day security challenges.
He encouraged them to act with humility and uphold high ethical standards, and emphasised that public trust and cooperation were key to successful crime prevention.
Six recruits received awards for excellence in areas such as communication, child-friendly policing, public order management, and swimming.
Sergeant Sophia Elikplim Dedjoe was recognized as the best overall female in academics at the national level.
The ceremony was attended by traditional leaders, retired officers, and representatives from sister security services.
Guests witnessed a range of displays, including tactical demonstrations and ceremonial drills.
