Police arrest notorious suspect after violent Robbery at mining site in Juaboso

The Western North Regional Police Command has arrested a notorious suspect linked to a violent robbery at a mining site in Sefwi Antobia, Western North Region.

The suspect, identified as Victor Biney, alias Abeiku, who has been on the police wanted list for multiple robbery cases, was arrested on Monday, 17th November 2025. His arrest followed a report that seven armed and masked men had attacked miners at a site near Sefwi Antobia, assaulting them with cutlasses and stealing quantities of gold concentrate and several mobile phones.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the robbers, armed with pump-action and single-barrel guns, invaded the mining site, brutalised the miners, and fled with the stolen gold concentrate and other valuables. Three of the attackers were reported to be wearing distinctive smocks—one decorated with talismans—while another wore a military shirt.

A search at the suspect’s shrine at Attakrom led to the discovery of a military camouflage shirt, a pair of handcuffs, two cutlasses, a single-barrel gun, multiple flashlights, seventeen AAA live cartridges, several smocks, mercury, particles of gold concentrate, a pump-action gun butt, and other items believed to be connected to the robbery.

At the police station, the suspect admitted ownership of several of the recovered items. The victims also identified some of the flashlights, the mercury, the gold concentrate, and three of the smocks as belonging to them. They further confirmed that the military shirt and some of the smocks matched what the attackers wore during the robbery.

The suspect was arraigned before the Juaboso District Court on 17th November 2025 and was remanded into police custody to reappear on 8th December 2025.

Meanwhile, police have launched a manhunt for the remaining accomplices, who are currently on the run, to ensure they face justice.
