The Police Intelligence Directorate (PID) in the Ashanti Region has arrested five suspects linked to a string of armed robbery cases in the Denchemuoso District and surrounding areas.
The key suspect, Michael Owusu Ansah, alias Baby Last (32), was apprehended on April 22, 2025, following credible intelligence. He had been on the police wanted list since 2016 for his alleged involvement in the robbery and murder of G/Cpl Frank Essel of SWAT/Ashanti at the Open Space Hotel, Denchemuoso.
During interrogation, Baby Last confessed to participating in several robberies across Denchemuoso, Atwima-Techiman, and Asuoyeboah, revealing his gang operated with knives, pistols, and pump-action guns.
Subsequent investigations led to the arrest of his accomplices:
- Emmanuel Owusu, alias Cassidy
- Maxwell Gyimah, alias Nana Kwame
- Sudais Oxford Ntiamoah, alias The Man Sudais
- Rhano Okyere, alias Demon
The arrests were made at hideouts in Atwima-Techiman and Denchemuoso. One suspect remains at large, with efforts ongoing to capture him and retrieve the gang’s weapons.
The five were arraigned before the Atasomanso Circuit Court on May 13, 2025, and remanded into custody. Their next court appearance is scheduled for June 4, 2025.
