One Suspect Arrested in Mpohor Gold Shop Robbery, Police Hunt for Accomplices

The Western Regional Police Command has arrested one suspect in connection with a violent robbery incident at a gold buying shop in the Mpohor District on Saturday, August 16, 2025.

According to police, a gang of armed men stormed the gold shop and made away with an unspecified amount of money after injuring one person during the attack. The injured victim is said to be responding positively to treatment.

In a statement signed by Superintendent Olivia Adiku, Head of Public Affairs for the Western Regional Command, the police confirmed that one suspect is currently in custody and assisting investigators. Meanwhile, a manhunt has been launched to track down the remaining suspects who are on the run.

The police have assured the public of their commitment to bringing all perpetrators to justice.

“We would like to assure the public that the perpetrators will be arrested and be made to face justice,” the statement emphasized.

Residents of Mpohor and its surrounding communities are being urged to remain calm and cooperate with the police by providing any useful information that could lead to the arrest of the remaining suspects.
