The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has officially announced the opening of its student loan application portal for the 2025/2026 academic session. According to the management, the application period will commence on Thursday, October 23, 2025, and remain open until Saturday, January 31, 2026.
In a statement signed by Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, the agency expressed appreciation to tertiary institutions across the country for their continued collaboration and urged them to further support the smooth implementation of the student loan scheme.
Mrs. Oluwatuyi emphasized that the cooperation of institutions is critical to ensuring that all eligible students—both returning and newly admitted—can benefit from the initiative without hindrance. She noted that all tertiary institutions are required to update and upload verified student records on the NELFUND Student Verification Portal, a prerequisite for loan application and processing.

To facilitate a seamless rollout, NELFUND highlighted key operational details as follows:

NELFUND further appealed to institutions to adopt temporary registration measures for students whose loan applications are under review, to prevent disruptions to their academic activities. The Fund reiterated its commitment to ensuring that no Nigerian student is denied access to education due to financial challenges.
