NCCE Mourns Eight Patriots Lost in Adansi Akrofuom Helicopter Crash

The National Commission for Civic Education (NCCE) has joined the nation in mourning the tragic loss of eight Ghanaians, including two cabinet ministers, government officials, and military officers, in a military helicopter crash that occurred on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.

In a statement signed by the Chairperson, Kathleen Addy, the Commission described the incident as a “monumental loss to our Republic” and extended heartfelt condolences to President John Dramani Mahama, the government, and the bereaved families.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families, whose hearts are heavy with grief,” the statement read.

The NCCE also paid special tribute to one of the victims, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, who had a long-standing relationship with the Commission. Dr. Mohammed previously served as a volunteer with the Northern Regional Office of the NCCE and was President of the University of Ghana Chapter of the NCCE’s Civic Education Club, where he made significant contributions as a student leader.

The Commission prayed for the eternal rest of the departed and urged Ghanaians to draw inspiration from their service and sacrifice. “May their sacrifice to our beloved country continue to inspire a deeper sense of patriotism and civic responsibility among Ghanaians,” the statement said.

Calling for national unity in this period of grief, the NCCE urged the public to stand together in honour of the eight gallant men who died in the line of duty.

“God bless our homeland Ghana and make our nation great and strong,” the statement concluded.
