Minerals Commission Announces Leadership Changes

The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Hon. Yusif Sulemana (MP), has announced major changes in the leadership of the Minerals Commission.

Speaking on behalf of the Minister, Hon. Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah (MP), the Deputy Minister confirmed the reassignment of the current Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Mr. Martin Kwaku Ayisi, to the Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources as Technical Advisor, effective September 16, 2025.

According to the Ministry, the reassignment reflects the government’s commitment to strengthening policy coordination while recognizing Mr. Ayisi’s expertise in mining regulation, governance, and institutional reforms. His new role is expected to leverage his wealth of experience to advance the Ministry’s strategic objectives.

In line with the transition, Mr. Isaac Tandoh, the Deputy Chief Executive Officer in charge of Small-scale and Industrial Minerals, has been appointed Acting CEO of the Commission, also effective September 16, 2025. With more than 23 years of leadership experience in the mining sector, Mr. Tandoh previously served as a Mine Manager with some of Ghana’s largest mining companies before joining the Commission.

In his acceptance remarks, Mr. Tandoh paid tribute to the legacy of Mr. Ayisi and pledged to uphold the Commission’s values while driving its strategic vision forward.

Hon. Sulemana commended Mr. Ayisi for his dedicated service and urged staff to remain calm, focused, and cooperative during the transition. He stressed the importance of unity to sustain the Commission’s operational excellence.

The Minerals Commission, in a statement signed by its Corporate Affairs and Information Technology Department, extended its best wishes to Mr. Ayisi in his new role and pledged full support to Mr. Tandoh as he assumes his leadership responsibilities.
