Businessman and politician, Hon. Kennedy Agyapong, has expressed deep sorrow over the devastating military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight Ghanaians, including senior government officials and personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces.
In a heartfelt statement issued today, Agyapong described the incident as a “great loss to the Republic of Ghana,” emphasizing the selfless service and patriotism of the victims who died in the line of duty.
“Their service, patriotism and commitment to the development and security of our country will never be forgotten,” he said.

Among those who perished in the crash are Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Alhaji Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, and other high-ranking public servants and military officers. They were reportedly on official duties at the time of the tragic incident.
A National Tragedy
Hon. Agyapong extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, the government, the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), and the entire nation, describing the loss as a moment of collective grief.
“To the bereaved families, the government, the NDC fraternity and the entire nation, I extend my heartfelt condolences. May the Almighty God grant them eternal rest and comfort the hearts of those left behind,” his statement read.

Calling on Ghanaians to stand in solidarity during this difficult time, Agyapong urged the nation to unite in prayer and reflection.
“This is a moment of national grief. Let us stand united in prayer and reflection as we mourn their tragic loss.”
The tragic crash has sent shockwaves across the country, prompting messages of condolence and mourning from political figures, civil society, and international partners. The government has since declared a period of national mourning, with flags flying at half-mast across all public institutions.
