The Ghana Education Service (GES) has officially released the academic calendar for the 2025/2026 school year for all second cycle institutions across the country.
According to the directive, first-year students in both single track and transitional schools are expected to report on Saturday, 18th October 2025. The full academic calendar, which has been circulated to schools, outlines key term dates, holidays, and special arrangements to ensure smooth implementation throughout the academic year.
The GES further explained that the calendar comes with detailed footnotes to guide school authorities on specific arrangements and considerations that will support effective teaching and learning.

In a statement signed by Mr. Prince C. Agyemang-Duah, Director of Schools and Instructions Division, on behalf of the Ag. Director-General, Regional Directors have been tasked to ensure that all Heads of Institutions strictly comply with the calendar. They are also expected to provide the necessary monitoring and support to facilitate consistency in its implementation nationwide.
“The Service counts on your usual cooperation to ensure effective teaching and learning in our institutions for the 2025/2026 academic year,” the statement noted.
The release of the calendar is aimed at avoiding disruptions, promoting efficiency, and providing clear timelines for both students and school administrators as the new academic year begins.
